Jacob purchased his first home when he was 23 years old. At the time, he was working as a master automobile technician, and he fell in love with houses. He embraced all aspects of this house, stripped it down to the studs, and rebuilt it with the help of friends in the trades. He learned along the way and finally sold it to do another one and made a handsome profit due to the “sweat equity.” He became proficient with buying & selling these homes after renovations while having his day job in the auto industry.
Transition Into the Inspection Industry
Eventually, he developed the desire to enter the real estate industry as an appraiser. He approached an appraiser he knew, and her response was, “With your mechanical and technical background, you should be a home inspector.” So in 2002, Jacob became an ASHI-certified home inspector.
